Detroit – Michelin commissioned four paintings of “Bibendum”, also known as “The Michelin Man” for their booth at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2011. The four paintings were seen by thousands of automotive enthusiasts and industry executives and Artist Timothy Raines was on hand to paint live during the two press preview days and the big Charity Preview gala.
Of the four paintings, three will be donated to charities for separate auctions and one will head to Michelin headquarters for their private art collection.
Aston Martin North America invited and hosted artist Timothy Raines to showcase three Aston Martin themed works over the three days of their private and public events held at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. The works were displayed prominently next to their recently revealed 4-door Rapide and the flagship DB9 convertible on Sunday during the main Concours event.
The event resulted in several sales of art and Aston Martin automobiles at the event as well as follow on purchases from collectors of these two different but equally impressive types of art. The three artworks displayed by Timothy Raines were “Motherland”, a painting of the British Flag (commonly called ‘Union Jack’), the Aston Martin Logo and a Nautilus Shell that is a commonly recognized symbol for perfection, The Divine Proportion and the Universal Creative Power and happens to be the symbol chosen by Aston Martin to represent the Rapide.

Another automobile blog has found my work and did a deeper dive on my background. Thank you to the team at Carsinpedia!
One of the top two auto blogs going has shared my art with the automotive world. Jalopnik reported on my work and wrote some excellent remarks. It is an honor to have the coverage.
“Artist Timothy Raines focuses much of his talent on automobile logos in his series “Brand as Art.”. He makes the Cavillono in these works Rampante and spreads Bentley’s wings with a triptych. Glorious and gorgeous!”
The comments from the Jalopnik readers are classic as well!
